The right tool

No craftsman can do without tools. However, it is crucial to use the right tool for the situation at hand. The use of tools is successful if the needs have been well clarified first.

Useful in coaching

Preference or personality profiles have proven to be very useful in individual coaching as well as in team development to get a better picture of strengths, weaknesses and development potential. The following two «tools» are mainly used at p-focus.

Insights© Discovery Preference profile

The preference profile based on the findings of C.G. Jung. Discovery's strengths are accurate reports, ongoing development and translation into approximately thirty languages.

The Personal Profile which, within the context of the self-assessment process, measures your preferences, is excellently suited to detect your personal style of working, communication, and behavior and raise your awareness towards it. In parallel, you will find out how you are perceived by others and what is your impression left with others.

BIP Profile (Business-focused Inventory of Personality)

As a reliable instrument I am using the BIP Profile (Bochum Inventory for job-related personality description). The BIP Profile is a highly recognized personality procedure and provides you with differentiated information on 14 job-related personality dimensions.

The BIP® is suitable for use in selection, development, coaching and career counselling. It is suitable for use with board executives and middle to senior management levels.

The questionnaire includes 14 scales arranged into four conceptual domains; three scales measure aspects of psychological constitution: ‘Emotional Stability’, ‘Working under Pressure’ and ‘Self Confidence’.

There are also four supplementary indices intended to open up discussion at interview rather than being predictive of behavior. These are ‘Sense of Control’ (in terms of impact on others), ’Competitive Orientation’, ’Mobility’ (in terms of willingness to relocate and travel as part of the job) and ’Time Orientation’, which looks at the relative importance given to work and leisure.

  • Please let us know if you want to create a BIP profile. You will need your name, year of birth, job/function and your e-mail address.
  • You will then receive a personalized link to the questionnaire.
  • Filling out the questionnaire takes about 40 minutes and should not be interrupted.
  • Preferably the evaluation will be carried out in a personal interview.
